Time to go home......

And so we need to face the fact that all good things come to an end, but not until we've had two last suppers.
We really enjoyed our Barnsley lamb chops, so I made a return visit to my best butcher and asked him to cut me two more please. I told him what a super job he'd done last time and how much my husband had enjoyed them. I think the praise went to his head and he excelled himself with these babies....

Our last night and we went to The Blue Boar for a pre-dinner glass. I felt I should dress up cause it's a classy place, if the deer is any indicator.

Then to The French Pantry, a tiny little eating house with not many tables. We were placed at a table next to an older couple, a middle aged couple and a child. The middle aged man turned and said he thought he detected an antipodean accent, tick. Talk about a small world....after some chat we discovered the older couple were from Canberra and the gentleman used to work with and was good friends with our next door neighbour Keith, when we lived in Duffy all those years ago. Silly stuff. Any way, they went home and we had a super meal as you can see. Our waiter Billy was a friendly chap from Liverpool, so he and John had a brief chat about the place but then he came back after dinner and had an extended chat about life in general. Friendly boy.

Packed and heading for Heathrow, always a nightmare because you never know what to expect. We had a dream run....no problems leaving, no traffic jams, all was right with the world. We called in at the Ludlow Food Centre and bought a picnic and then drove. We stopped at the town of Wallingford where we had spent a couple of nights in May and had our picnic and with only an hour to drive to Heathrow we were doing well. Jumped in the car and drove to the top of the road, turn left and the car stalled with a thud. I tried to start it again, but the car said NO. Oh crap!!! We pushed it out of everybody's way and wondered what to do next. We sat there for 10 mins wondering what to do next. I thought I'll just try again and see. See what, I'm not quite sure, but see anyway. After being offered assistance by some and abused by others it couldn't hurt. Lo and behold the little Qashqai decided to co-operate. Thank God, and off we drove to catch our plane.
We arrived in plenty of time and check in was immediate, efficient, and quick.
A glass of bubbles to celebrate and life is good, we were even given our allocated seats.
Now we've been home for a week and it all seems so long ago and we have the challenge of moving in front of us. So it will be heads down and bums up, cleaning, organizing, searching and disposing of and packing.
Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye.......
Hope you've enjoyed my ravings, I've enjoyed the scribbling.
