Pisa
Fairly uneventful flight to Pisa. We've been allocated seats by BA, not together and in different rows! I tried to book in online 24 hours ahead as you're supposed to, but computer said no seats available. It seems everybody books their tickets and pays an extra 15 GBP to have an allocated seat, so dumb-arse here and her husband don't get to sit together. It's the way of the world I'm told, too many people with too much money. I was able to change John's seat to one of two next to a quiet Asian boy. My seat was in the middle, in between a Bangladeshi mother and her child. On the other side of the aisle was another two of her children and her husband. She did concede that I probably didn't care for the middle seat and offered me the window chair. I slept most of the way so it didn't really matter.
Booked into our hotel, The Hotel Bologna, yep I know, in Pisa, and it was all good.
The next day we walked the town retracing steps from 2009, checked out the tower and all the jerks taking their photos of their friends trying to hold the tower up and the endless selfies that go on. Oh dear.....tourists
There are huge expanses of grass surrounding the Duomo and Torre but you are not allowed to walk on it and there are Grass Guards to police this with whistles blazing. However, blackbirds are a law unto themselves!

We checked out restaurants in anticipation of Pete and Ros's arrival on Monday and found an intimate little job for ourselves the next night. After a drink in the piazza we were into it, with our out of practise Italian. We had a lot of fun and a wonderful meal of Signor Coniglio (Rabbit). The staff were friendly and it was a great start to our Pisa leg.
