Inverness

Finished with the Islands we're now back to the Mainland. The ferry usually goes from Stornoway to Ullapool on the mainland but at the moment they are repairing the terminal so we have to sail form Stornoway to Uig on the Isle of Skye. This makes it a longer drive to Inverness, however, we did get to sail all the way down the east coasts of Lewis and Harris which was a great view.

To say going back to Barra was comfortable like an old pair of slippers, going back to Inverness is as comfortable as jumping into a onesie. This will be our third time here and we have favourite places we like to revisit. Last time I was here I had my hair done, so why not....after all I like to be a regular. I made the appointment before I left Oz with my usual hairdresser, Cors. She pretended she remembered me and we all had a nice time.

Next stop the Castle Tavern, where we did brave the elements and sat outside for a drink, but ate inside. They've changed legislation in Scotland now and they are no longer allowed to have gas heaters outside like we do in Australia. They now have to be electric to be more planet friendly. Lesson to be learned Australia....but then according to Mr Abbott there is no such thing as climate change, so it's all ok. It's still a good pub with very friendly staff. We didn't jump on the bridge this time...too bloody cold. I was straight down the hill to our warm hotel room.

A lovely view and the boys had prime position......
