Straight down to the bar and I suggest we sit outside. John laughed at me, but in fact it was sunny and warm and I sat there without a coat.
The food is just pub food, nothing special. Friday night is Darts night and the bar was jumping. For a tiny town it was lively. Even Tony Abbott turned up to score.
Saturday is fine but cool and very windy. We took a drive to Vatersay an even smaller island further south which is joined to Barra by a causeway. There's not much here but we did climb this hill that had wild primroses all over it. That got the blood moving.
Driving is fraught with danger because the local fur and wool roam the streets unaccompanied. It's lambing season and they are wandering everywhere.
Back for another night. We chose to drink in the next door pub for a change which was different. Just a handful of people where the bartender plays pool with the patrons. It was entertaining watching the antics that went on. It was sauvignon blanc or sauvignon blanc, that sort of pub. The fellow next to us had half his pint left when he ordered another. Ambitious I thought. But 5 mins later the both glasses were empty and he was on his way......Left John for dead.
Tomorrow we're off to South Uist to Lochboisdale for 2 nights and hopefully a culinary feast.
