Island Hopping

This is a lot of fun, if you like cold weather with a howling wind in your face and rain on you bald spot.
We've docked at Eriskay for 2 nights in The Polochar Inn at Lochboisdale. We stayed here 6 years ago and we had such a wonderful time, we wanted to come back. Back then, this was a culinary stay, the food was superb, particularly the Scallops.

Our room was just as we remembered, as was the friendliness of the family running it. A lovely place to stay set in isolation on the edge of a point. Stand and look out to sea and see naught.

The food was very nice but they had changed the menu to be a little more mainstream and, you guessed it, the Scallops were off, both nights! Still we enjoyed our orders....

Goat's chees on Black Pudding
Smoked Mackerel

Lamb with Potato Haggis Mash

Chicken with Green Peppercorn Sauce

We took a long walk, about 17 km all up, in the blasting wind, but it was my first big walk since I'd left home and I really enjoyed.

t's a long way.......

We encounted various friends on the way, the dog who directed the traffic and the small sheep who wanted to perform a jig for us.

It is reasonably desolate countryside with houses dotted here and there and it would appear Monday is bed change day because nearly every inhabited house had their sheets on the line. I don't think it will take long for them to dry with this wind........
